Did you eat your bread this morning?

Our Sunday School teacher, John Sensenig asked this question yesterday in class. He said, I am not going to put you on the spot and force you to answer, but just for you to consider – did you get your spiritual nourishment this morning? To that my wife added, sometimes we don’t even know we are starving ourselves because it is only when we are in the Word on a consistent basis that we realize when we go without. In other words, Steph was saying you have to develop an appetite for the Word. No doubt most of you had breakfast this morning – bacon and eggs, oatmeal, cereal, toast, fruit, or something else, but did you eat your bread this morning (Isaiah 55:2)? John wasn’t asking if we had a quick devotional time so that we could check that off the list. He was asking – have you met God today through His Word and through prayer, and are you hungry for more? This was a great little reminder and I wanted to pass it on to a larger audience.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
